Lazos is a community of Hispanic and Latino men at Iowa State University

Lazos mission statement: 

Lazos provides a safe and welcoming space where we can discuss the issues that face Hispanic and Latino men on the ISU campus. Through casual conversations and sharing of our experiences, we seek to form bonds between students, staff, and faculty and create a supportive network of peer-to-peer and mentorship relationships among students, staff, and faculty that lead to success at ISU and beyond.

Lazos community kicks off 7th year in Ames, IA

All are invited to join the Lazos community for another great year of friendship, support and success!

Attend our monthly socials to hear some great speakers and make friends. We meet once a month in the Pat Thiel, Hach Hall Atrium, from 5:30pm to 7pm.

Fall socials begin soon:

  • August 29, 2022 – Luis Rico Gutierrez, PhD, Dean of the College of Design at ISU
  • September 19, 2022 – Joshua Moreno, BASc, Site manager and principal engineer at Collins Aerospace
  • October 17, 2022 – Saul Abarca, PhD, Teaching faculty in Global Resource Systems Program at ISU
  • November 14, 2022 – Alicia Carriquiry, PhD, Director of Center for Statistics and Applications in Forensic Evidence at ISU
